Jim Beam’s Kin Creates a Southern Gathering

Charm and hospitality were dripping out of the dishes and drinks at the Lexington Visitor’s Bureau‘s “Southern Gathering” at Acadiana last Wednesday night, as Jim Beam‘s master distiller satisfied a sold-out crowd with the best of his bourbon… and more.
Fred Noe, the seventh generation Beam family distiller and great-grandson of the late Jim Beam, brought along one of Kentucky’s top chefs, Jonathan Lundy, to dish alongside Acadiana’s Jeff Tunks, who was to receive honorary “Kentucky Colonel” recognition that evening (see video) while he regaled diners with tales of growing up in Kentucky, told the real difference between bourbon and that whisky stuff they make everywhere else, and explained how best to drink it (hint – there is no wrong way!).
Meal pairings brought out the flavors in the White and Black Label, Red Stag, Basil Hayden’s and Booker’s  tasted throughout the evening, and every diner left with a little new knowledge of their bourbon drinks and a little more of a Southern drawl.
