J&G Raises the Bar, Shows Off New Renovation

With prime real estate next to the United States Treasury and a rooftop view of 1600 Pennsylvania, The W Hotel at 515 15th Street has retained status as a National Historic Site for almost 50 years.  dscn0802However, its reverence for tradition didn’t stop J&G Steakhouse, one of the city’s top 100 restaurants, from Raising the Bar this summer with a massive renovation to revamp its look.

J&G revealed its new interior façade, menu, patio space, and bar to a hip and lively crowd of Washingtonians on Wednesday night, inviting them to enjoy live jazz music, culinary demonstrations by Chef Philippe Reininger, cocktail competitions from Chief Mixologist Domingo, and a new dscn0804appreciation for high ceilings and chandeliers — all with a glass of French 515 in hand.

Bite sized Kobe beef sliders, homemade crab cakes, and tuna tartare were passed all over the place as the party moved from the main dining space down to the new Bar 515, adjacent to the patio.

dscn0811We asked: What will make you come back to J&G after tonight?  One reveler’s ready answer: “The energetic ambiance, great food, and of course the Gold Finger martini… it’s not every day that your Grey Goose is topped off with gold dust!”
