He might not have a personal connection to the cause, but that hasn’t stopped local jeweler to the stars, Alberto Parada, from being a gem to the efforts of the March of Dimes.
The artist and designer, whose jewels have adorned such red carpet regulars as Jessica Alba, Carmen Electra and Mila Jovovich, signed on to add his unique sparkle of sponsorship to the charity’s 2013 Signature Chef’s Gala.

“Though my showroom is in California and I do most of my work there, DC is my hometown,” Parada told KSM Thursday night at Midtown Jewelers in Reston, where he was hosting a VIP trunk show of his designs to benefit MOD’s upcoming event on November 12th. After all, for him it’s as much about looking good as doing good. “I’m so happy to be a part of the community here and help in any way that I can.”
Parada’s involvement coincides with the March of Dimes’ celebration of 75 years of research, vaccines and breakthroughs that benefit every baby. To help celebrate this landmark year, he not only hosted the generous “give-back” event at Midtown Jewelers (where a percentage of sale proceeds were returned directly to the cause), but Parada is donating exclusive jewelry pieces to the 2013 Signature Chefs Gala — where we’re told even more of his special surprises await.
A self-taught designer, Alberto Parada draws inspiration from the natural beauty of his native South America. Known for his commitment to providing a high quality product that is both environmentally and socially responsible, Parada’s jewelry contains only reclaimed gold. Thursday evening’s event showcased a brand new collection which features cut sapphires — his own birthstone!
