Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. It’s ‘A Small World’ After All

We all know how Facebook has invaded our lives, and I’ll be the first to admit my pleasant surprise at how this little website we started using in college to keep in touch with each other has taken off in the social media blitz. But I recently joined A Small World, too, and I’ve noticed some particular features that really give it a niche! ASW is invite-only… so exclusivity is one area of comparison, in addition to the more international nature of the network.

Last night, ASW members in DC congregated at L2 to meet and mingle. I left with cards and contacts after some really stimulating conversation! Have yet to see FB do something like that for me…
Maybe FB is the new conglomerate E-vite/AIM and ASW is the social replacement for LinkedIN. What do you think?
