District Distillery Co., opening August 26th, is the newest addition to the U Street bar scene. DC’s first bar + kitchen + distillery, this place is is a world of its own that makes booze downstairs… and serves booze upstairs!
District Distillery Co. is hoping to launch their (in)house-made spirits on October 1st with vodka, gin, and rum, concocted in custom-made German distilleries on the ground floor. Currently, their carefully cultivated spirits menu is centered around primarily small-batch domestic distilleries.
The cocktail menu is just plain fun – there’s an extra boozy tiki drink (that comes with a spicy pineapple slice), an egg-white and lava salt gin concoction, and a frozen-berry-vodka high ball.
The menu is innovative and nothing short of delicious. Personal favorites include the fried oyster steam buns, summer vegetable ratatouille pie, and grilled rockfish. And get excited about the late-night menu… after your pours, you can feast on some smoked porkshoulder poutine!
