Inside The Mary’s Center’s 25th Noche Tropical Gala

Nearly 600 guests were in attendance for the annual gala Noche Tropical to celebrate The Mary’s Center 25 Years of Impact at the Marriott dsc_0183Wardman Park Hotel last weekend.  Mayor Vincent C. Gray had declared October 18th Mary’s Center day, Richard Trumka delivered a fantastic keynote speech, and PepcoConnect donated $85,000 for them to operate their energy assistance program…  but it was ‘young professionals’ who were the key to the cause.

“This was the first year Mary’s Center decided to incorporate a young professionals component into their annual gala. Mary’s Center very much wants young professionals throughout the city to become involved with their important mission of providing health care, family literacy, and social services to those in need in our area,” said Gala Chairwomen Jennifer Chapman.   “We are dsc_0204excited by the interest of young professionals in our gala this year and look forward to continued growth and success.”

That Young Professionals Reception was certainly full of fun as attendees danced with a festive belly dancer, got their palm read by a fortune teller, and enjoyed delicious appetizers. The DJ had the crowd moving with the beat and loving their night out as he played dance favorites like the Wobble — helping the Mary’s Center to move some $25,000 in the silent and live auctions.
