Inside the JDRF Night of Hope Gala

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Capitol Chapter kicked off Diabetes Awareness Month with its 12th annual Night of Hope Gala late last week.  Attracting nearly 500 Washingtonians, this year’s event raised some $1.1 million dollars to help find a cure for children and adults living with type 1 diabetes (T1D).

The black-tie event at the National Building Museum consisted of a cocktail reception, dinner and entertainment by Le Ombre, and was attended by such notables as Baker Tilly (Hope Champion), Sherry Cushman (Hope Honoree), Sue DeVine and Brent Baglien (Gala Chairs), Senator Mark Warner and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend (Honorary Chairs) along with nearly 500 leaders from business, politics and media.

JDRF strives to assist the nearly 24 million Americans living with diabetes and its complications and to stop the disease from killing one American every three minutes, and accounting for more than $174 billion in U.S. health care costs.
