Inside the 27th Annual Bark Ball

There was much paw primping and tail wagging Saturday night as the 27th annual Washington Humane Society Bark Ball took place at the Washington Hilton.  Guests (humans and their canine companions) celebrated in black tie style as the dinner and formal program gave way to IMG_9505dancing and other special surprises.

Local NFL team Vice President and Executive Producer of Media, Larry Michael, Sr. served as Master of Ceremonies for the benefit, calling it the “Superbowl of animal events.”  Breaks in the meal-time program featured a few of the Humane Society’s currently available animals for adoption, and showcased the organization’s critical programs and IMG_9506services that benefit thousands of homeless, lost and abused animals in the District of Columbia.

Among those in attendance were Congressman Richard Hudson (North Carolina) and his wife Renee, footballer Chris Cooley, Washington Humane Society Ambassadors Dr. Katy Nelson, DC Democratic Mayoral candidate Muriel Bowser and Councilmember (and Independent DC Mayoral candidate) David Catania.
