Inside Barley Mac’s 2nd Annual OysterFest

Sunny skies and warmer temperatures made an appearance just in time for the DC area to get an early start to patio season at Barley Mac’s second annual Oyster Fest last weekend.

Owner Mike Cordero served up classic summertime favorites – oysters and other outdoor favorite fare, chilled white wine, cocktails, beer and whiskey.  Guests sampled the restaurant’s locally caught oysters and downed drinks from the bar all afternoon.

Afternoon highlights included an oyster eating contest, shucking instruction stations, and cigar rolling demonstrations. Oyster shooters were made to order.     

There were raw oysters harvested from Northern Virginia, Oyster Rockefellers, Grilled Oysters, Fried Po-Boys, Oyster Stew, Fried Buffalo Batter Oysters and Oyster Ceviche.

Live music from local favorites The Wing-Its added extra fun to the festivities.
