Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. You’ll catch her interviewing guests on DC’s NewChannel8′s Let’s Talk Live and showcasing products on BestBuy.com, as well as work appearing on NBC, Fox, Comcast and local print publications.

Inaugural Evening Events – Day 1

Decided that all invitations should include ATTIRE – since no one is quite sure how to dress for events this inaugural weekend. Even at a Ball, we’re seeing a mix of cocktail, formal evening tuxes, and jeans (I can hardly believe that one). And that was a topic of conversation at Lyrics and Libations Saturday night at Milano.

Franco Nuschese, Jackie Kuchinich, Becca Glover and Matt Dormic invited me to the join in on the fun to benefit Horton’s Kids at the super crowded scene restaurant which was also hosting a BET Awards party…and regular reservations… that evening.

At our party in the back we enjoyed Peroni and Emperor Vodka cocktails (sponsors of the evening’s libations and chatted with Taylor Griffin, Moira Bagley, John Arundel, Pergrin Pervez (of Emperor Vodka ) and Ezra Weinblatt. Huge kudos to Becca Glover, especially for putting together an awesome gift bag – mine had my favorite Georgetown cupcake (chocolate with white icing!), lots of Vitamin water to help me get through the next day, and a week of activity at the Sports Club LA!

Post Milano, we partied with some serious power players at L2 for another official BET party – hosted by Debbie Lee. Samuel L. Jackson was leaving just as I walked in, but I saw Angela Bassett and Will.I.Am rocking in the DJ Booth with Dimitri. So much celebration.. and it’s only Day 1!
