Getting Hip – Rose Hip – with M. Steves’ “Youth in a Bottle”

Have questions about the new trend in face oil?  We did, too!  KSM caught up with Mally Steves Chakola, Founder of M. Steves skincare, as she was making a personal appearance at Bellacara in Old Town Alexandria this week.

Although face oils are now gaining in popularity, Steves recognized early on the versatile powers of Rose Hip Seed Oil, the signature ingredient in each of her products… though she found out about it by accident.

“I accidentally bought it.  I thought it was rose oil,” Chakola admitted.  “When I brought it home, I immediately smelled the difference…  I didn’t know exactly what to do with it, so I thought, ‘Let me add it into a moisturizer.’  And that’s how I had an amazing personal experience… I wiped the excess oil on a scar that I had had for years.  In two weeks that scar was completely gone, and I was just shocked by the results.”

And this oil that evens skin tone and texture and reduces fine lines and wrinkles may also have anti-aging properties!  Chakola beams about longevity: She’s in town to celebrate Eddy Steves’ — her grandmother’s — 100th birthday.  “She loves the moisturizer, and she loves to tell me every time I come visit her, when she’ll be needing a refill.  She says, ‘I really think it’s doing things for me and my hundred year old skin.'”

M. Steves’ five piece collection, “an edited beauty tool kit” is currently available at Bellacara in Old Town and at Celadon Spa in DC.
