Get the Look: Gabrielle Union at the BET Inaugural Ball

Celebrity Hairstylist Kiyah Wright gave Gabrielle Union an intricate, pinned back style using Clairol Professional for Monday night’s BET Inaugural Ball at the American Art Museum and Portrait Gallery.

How can you get the same style? Here’s Wright’s step by step how-to:

  1. Mix Clairol Professional liquicolor permanente 3N with Clairol Professional 10 volumedeveloper. Apply the formula from root to tip until the entire head is covered. Place under heat for 30 minutes and then rinse.
  2. Wash the hair with a hydrating, color-safe shampoo and conditioner.
  3. Blow-dry the hair with a round brush to create maximum volume at the root.
  4. Once dried, take 1” sections of hair and a 1” barrel curling iron to create spiral curls throughout the head.
  5. Leaving the bangs out, take 1” pieces from either side and bobby pin them to the center back of the head. Repeat this step until reaching the nape of the neck. The result should resemble a braid.
  6. Ensure the pinned back style is secure and then spritz with a light hold hairspray.
