Games, Games, Games

Video games have been getting a lot of attention lately.  But this isn’t Game Over; it’s just a Bonus Round.

Like The Art of Video Games, now on display at Smithsonian’s American Art Museum, which explores the forty year evolution of video games as an artistic medium,  Strathmore is now hitting the reset button as well.

Video Games Live, April 7th (2 PM & 8 PM), is a presentation of music, more than faintly familiar from the likes of your Atari, Nintendo, Sega or PlayStation.  But while the tinkling trademark Mario theme may sound sweet coming out of your throwback console, filling a concert hall with gaming sounds — as performed by the National Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorale — is more than Xbox extreme.

It’s like a rock concert — but with music from Final Fantasy VIIIPokemonMarioMetroid and Warcraft, and a special salute to Zelda.

Gather up your gamers: This may may call for more than a two player controller.

*And don’t miss the pre-show festival features: a costume contest and GameStop game demos… including a band battle with Guitar Hero, of course!
