Fresh Eats: Must-Try New Restos for DC Foodies

Are you a DC Foodie seeking fresh eats? Looking to nosh on the newest offerings in the city?  Rush to make a reservation at these most recently opened Washington restaurants:

James Beard award winning Chef Fabio Trabocci returned to DC to open Fiola (601 Pennsylvania Ave. NW) this Spring.  A great place for a group, especially to enjoy the weather on Fiola’s patio, no one will be disappointed with the portion size if the appetizer crostini with the spicy tuna tartar is ordered.  But while it’s terrifically tasty, don’t fill up on the bread basket before your oder comes out – Fabio’s known for his primo pastas!

Focusing on the coastal regions from Maine to Florida, Todd Gray recently unveiled his American/Seafood spot, Watershed (1225 First Street NE), in NoMa’s Hilton Garden Inn.  Choose a pairing from the limited, but adequate, wine list, to accompany the East Coast Gumbo or Gray’s class crabcake – both delicious – and pile on those have-to-have hush puppies.
American small plates, and a floor full of pennies, make your meal special at Lincoln (1110 Vermont Ave NW), which opened to much fanfare shortly after the 16th President’s birthday this year.  Honest Abe would be proud of the restaurant’s burger – and its salmon BLT – while the vibrant patio and bar scene are already starting to attract regulars.  Try the Emancipation Punch!
Mix it up at the all new taqueria/lounge/restaurant El Centro DF (1819 14th Street NW), sipping on some 300 types of tequila at the rooftop lounge or taking in the rustic Mexican decor of the intimate lower level dining area as latin pop songs play on the stereo.  This place has beef tongue tacos that can’t be beat, or be spicy, and try the grilled hanger steak hurrachas.
DC’s never seen anything like Elizabeth’s Gone Raw (1341 L Street NW), an entirely vegan experience where the kitchen temperature never heats above 115 degrees!  An entirely new five course pre-fixe menu (with optional organic wine pairings) is available each week to tempt your taste buds with itscreative cooking flavors. Happening upon a week with coconut fettucini on the menu is divine!
