Freedom’s Song: The Civil War Takes the Stage in DC’s Most Historic Theatre

02h_FreedomsSong_FordsA new adaptation of the Broadway musical “The Civil War” — featuring the words of Abraham Lincoln and music inspired by the letters of those who lived through the Civil War era — is now playing at the historic Ford’s Theatre.

Freedom’s Song: Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War” is part of Ford’s 150: Remembering the Lincoln Assassination, a series of events marking the 150 years since Abraham Lincoln’s assassination at Ford’s Theatre.  This epic musical features rousing music, stirring speeches and rich, historic costumes.

Through a series of highly theatrical vignettes, everyday Americans courageously confront the gritty03h_FreedomsSong_Fords realities not just of a nation at war… but one that pitted brother against brother.

Jeff Calhoun (Broadway’s Newsies) directs this lively historical work, mixing Lincoln’s inspirational words with these remarkable stories, so the audience can prepare for the patriotic ending… the return of a truly United States.
