Folger Consort’s Christmas concert is a beloved DC tradition each year. 2020’s concert — a virtual seasonal celebration — allows guests to watch in the comfort of their homes, and on a range of dates… at any time they choose. How’s that for Christmas convenience?!
The concert was filmed at St. Mark’s on Capitol Hill (where the Consort’s season was originally scheduled to take place prior to COVID-19) and features Bach’s cantata BWV140, Wachet auf (Sleepers Wake) as its main musical attraction, alongside other German holiday favorites paired with English and American Yuletide traditional songs.
Folger Consort—with programming by Artistic Directors Robert Eisenstein and Christopher Kendall—will include guest artists making up a Baroque chamber ensemble supporting vocalists Crossley Hawn (soprano), Lucy McVeigh (alto), Robert Petillo (tenor), and Edmund Milly (bass).
The entire event will be available to stream on-demand from Dec. 11 through Jan. 5. Pricing tiers range from $25 – $50.
