Next month, get ready to cycle into Spring! Flywheel Sports, a rapidly expanding indoor cycling brand, is opening its first DC studio in the Dupont neighborhood at the former Visons Cinema space at 1927 Florida Avenue, NW. This 33rd location will be Flywheel’s largest locale to date, featuring over 60 custom-made, high-tech bikes. But don’t worry, if pedaling and peloton aren’t your thing, the theater-style studio will also offer FlyBarre, a complementary total body sculpting class.
“We are excited to open our largest studio yet in the heart of our nation’s capital,” said Flywheel co-founder Ruth Zukerman in a written statement. “Given that Washington, D.C. is one of America’s healthiest cities, we understand the need to provide the most effective, results-driven workout – a product that we consistently deliver every single day.”
As with all other US studios, Flywheel Dupont will offer stadium-style seating, custom bikes, and complimentary towels and indoor cycling shoes for riders. The studio will also feature the TorqBoard, a proprietary performance-tracking technology that allows riders to accurately view their resistance (Torq), speed (RPM) and Power throughout each class. Along with tracking their performance, riders can choose to put their names up on a flat-screen displays at the front of every studio that shows class leaders and allows for friendly competition. After each ride, comprehensive data including calories burned, average speed and total miles rode is stored and made available to riders.
FlyBarre, a complement to the high-intensity indoor cycling classes, offers a series of small, intense interval exercises choreographed to contemporary and inspiring music. While the specific moves for each class can vary and change frequently, every class is designed to target the arm, abdominal, thigh and seat regions.
Flywheel DC is set to open in late March and will offer morning, afternoon and evening classes.
