Flight Wine Bar Opens In the ‘Heat’ of the Night

Sports fans weren’t the only thing pouring into the downtown area Wednesday night.  Amidst the maze and craze of the Wizards vs. Miami Heat basketball game, another cork was bursting.

flightlogoFlight, a wine bar owned and operated by husband and wife team, Swati Bose and Kabir Amir, held a preview party for its official opening, which will be this Saturday, January 18, 2014.

It’s a 60-seat wine bar, nestled into the area that Graffiato and Daikaya have made a destination, that will also serve shareable plates with Mediterranean flavors.  But, of course, you’ll go there for the grapes.

Expect an “approachable” wine list featuring over 70 selections, with 30 by the glass options, containing familiar varietals from boutique producers as well as labels from lesser-known regions around the world.  The list, organized by body and style — not by region — offers mini tastes at 2.5 oz. pours, 5 ounce full-glass pours, and by the bottle offerings.

Our favorite things about this place are the R’s: Rotating and Recycling.

1) Make sure to try the rotating flight of the week, which offers three tastes of a specific region, style or varietal, priced at $18.  And 2) carry back your corks!  Flight is an official cork recycling drop-off site for ReCork by Amorim, meaning your memorable night out with friends can be repurposed into shoes, flooring tiles, automotive gaskets, building insulation…

Guess popping those bottles really DID fuel the heat of the night!
