Congratulations to DC’s five new MICHELIN-starred restaurants! There are 23 starred restaurants in the greater Washington area, but here are the latest to add to your must-dine list:

Cranes – One star

The Guide called this restaurant and sake lounge in Penn Quarter “unbound by geography.” Local diners suggest exploring the Omakase menu, but also highly recommend the duck gyoza, mussels, risotto with mushrooms, and stuffed mackerel.

Elcielo D.C. – One star
“The level of showmanship and flair is admirable” according to the Guide. Elcielo is located in La Cosecha in Union Market and offers tasting menus (and á la carte) that are a tribute to Colombia.  Expect outstanding arepas, ceviche, and other moments that make this place exceptional for special occasions.

Rooster & Owl – One star
Accolades for this American tapas restaurant are not surprising given that Tom Sietsema declared it one of his favorites early on. The Guide also calls Rooster & Owl “approachable but undeniably clever.” Local diners rave about the pig ears (don’t overthink it!).

Xiquet – One star
We all know and love Chef Danny Lledó for his paella perfection, but Xiquet has so many other tantalizing tastes of Spain. The Guide raves about Xiquet’s “confidence and touches of elegance, subtlety and, of course, flavor.” We also love the first-floor wine bar.

Jônt– Two stars
This Logan Circle tasting room offers DC diners an intimate 14-seat counter and high expectations… on which it delivers. The Guide couldn’t gush about Jônt more, calling it “a showstopper demonstrating brilliance backed by impeccable technique and pristine ingredients.”

DC also has six new Bib Gourmands… so don’t miss out on the deliciousness at:
