Every Four Years, Newseum Exhibit Gets Campaign Coverage Nostalgia

In case you couldn’t tell by the fundraising, handshakes, baby kissing and deluge of debates — it’s political campaign season!  And just in time for President’s Day, the Newseum unveiled its newest exhibit, “Every Four Years: Presidential Campaigns and the Press.”

On display through the inauguration, the exhibit is, in fact, coverage of coverage: a glimpse into life on the campaign trail not only for candidates, but also the journalists that report about them.

Experience over 100 artifacts, starting with a suffrage ribbon from 1920 (the first year women could vote in every state),  George W. Bush’s “The PRez” inaugural guitar, handwritten notes from Kennedy’s campaign, and props from “Saturday Night Live,” to then-candidate Obama’s bowling ball and shoes from a campaign stop in Altoona, PA.  Exhibit guests can also create their own campaign photo op and vote in the AAUW’s polling booth.
