Tickets are selling quickly for the upcoming Becky’s Fund Walk This Way charity fashion show featuring professional athletes on the runway, taking a stand against domestic and dating violence. The fifth annual Walk This Way fashion event will take place on November 8th from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Embassy of Italy with the goal to raise at least $100,000.
For the first time, VIP ticket holders will have exclusive access to our athletes in a NEW VIP Players’ Lounge to meet and mingle among the exciting line-up of players in attendance.
This year’s proceeds from Walk This Way will help support Becky’s Fund Men of Code program; a nationally recognized program working with young men involved in athletics to break the cycle of domestic violence with the goal to expand the program to five more districts over the next year in DC. This program was founded with the grant awarded by the Office of Violence against Women at the Department of Justice and was deemed a model program in the U.S. working with men and boys to end intimate partner violence by Lynn Rosenthal, White House Advisor on Violence Against Women.
“It is important to raise up young men to become great leaders and to become leaders who can have a positive influence on people,” said Washington Redskin Kirk Cousins.
“We have to teach our youth that you have to respect women; your mother, your sister. They are our world and we definitely have to treat them with respect,” said Washington Redskin Pierre Garçon.
The Men of Code program proactively addresses the issue of family and intimate partner violence to young male athletes through education, turning them into ambassadors of healthy relationships and role models for their peers and the community.
Athletes attending on November 8th in support of Becky’s Fund include: Washington Redskins players Kirk Cousins, Pierre Garçon, DeAngelo Hall, Fred Davis, Kai Forbath, Josh Morgan, Darrel Young; Former Washington Redskins Gary Clark; DC United Dwayne de Rosario; Baltimore Ravens Jameel McClain; former Baltimore Ravens Visanthe Shiancoe, former New York Jets John Booty, two-time Olympic Rower Giuseppe Lanzone, four-time Olympian Sanya Richard Ross, former Giants Aaron Ross and more signing on by the day.
