Wednesday, June 1st: “Wood You Be My Savor”: A Tap Takeover of Foeder- & Wood-Aged Libations
5pm-10pm on the Terrace
Showcasing beers aged in foeders, wine, whiskey and even Caribbean rum barrels, Jack Rose is partnering with five breweries from around the country to celebrate the funky flavors achieved by introducing beer to various wooden vessels. This open-to-the-public event will showcase funky, tart and sour barrel-aged beers from 4 Hands Brewing Co. in St. Louis, Allagash Brewing Company in Maine, New Belgium Brewing Company in Colorado, and Right Proper Brewing Company and 3 Stars from here in DC.
All five breweries will take over the bar’s 20-tap draft system, offering rare brews incorporating unique flavors such as Madagascar vanilla beans, lychee, Vietnamese cinnamon, raspberries and coffee fruit. Here is the full line-up:
4 Hands
  • Madagascar – Imperial Milk Stout aged in Templeton Rye Barrels with Madagascar vanilla beans
  • Downfall – Madagascar’s sister, an Imperial Milk Stout aged in Templeton Rye Barrels with raspberries
  • Core Values – Oud Bruin aged in second-use barrels, for over two years with a blend of wild yeast & bacteria
  • Vol 1 – Imperial Stout aged in whiskey barrels with single origin coffee and cocoa nibs for 16 months
  • Cascara – Saison aged in red wine barrels with cascara (coffee fruit)
  • Wiseman – Wheat Wine aged in Caribbean rum barrels

  • Love Felix – single foeder
  • Transatlantique Kriek – Oude Beersel foeder and Felix blend
  • Tart Lychee – Felix with lychee and Vietnamese cinnamon
  • Peach Wheat Wine – aged in Leopold’s Peach whiskey barrels, Felix non-sour base from Eric’s
  • Love Apple Felix – aged in Leopold’s Apple whiskey barrels
Right Proper
  • Ornithology – Grisette fermented in French oak foudres with wild yeasts
  • White Bicycles – Rustic Witbier fermented in French oak foudres with wild yeasts
  • Astral Weeks – Farmhouse Pale Ale fermented in French oak foudres with wild yeasts
  • Baron Corvo – Rustic Biere de Garde fermented in French oak foudres with wild yeasts
Allagash
  • Golden Brett – fermented with Brettanomyces in oak foudres
  • Hive 56 – dark sour ale aged with honey and fermented with Brettanomyces in an oak foudre for eighteen months
3 Stars
  • Brandy Lyn – Graff, a blend of bourbon barrel-aged cider and brandy barrel-aged beer
  • Ricky Rose – barrel fermented sour ale with blackberries
  • Madness 2015 – Old Stock Ale aged with oak chips
