Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. You’ll catch her interviewing guests on DC’s NewChannel8′s Let’s Talk Live and showcasing products on BestBuy.com, as well as work appearing on NBC, Fox, Comcast and local print publications.

On Tuesday, March 18, 2014, the Fashion Group International Greater Washington, DC Region will host its inaugural Rising Stars event honoring the most promising emerging talent in their industries at James Beard Award Winning Chef Fabio Trabacchi’s Casa Luca.For thirty years, The Fashion Group International has celebrated the extraordinary accomplishments of the fashion industry’s top talent by honoring them at the Night of Stars in New York.   Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford , Oscar de la Renta, Valentino and  Dianne Von Furstenberg are just a few of the luminaries that  received a Night of Stars Award.  Seventeen years ago, The Fashion Group International created Rising Stars to identify the emerging talents whose creativity and vision are recognized. Joseph Altuzzara and Jennifer Fleiss & Jennifer Hyman for Rent the Runway are just a few Rising Stars honored by FGI before they became fashion “it” brands.The event will be held on Tuesday, March 18 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Fabio Trabocchi’s Casa Luca (1099 NewYork Avenue, NW, Washington, DC). Casa Luca’s menu features Italian style cuisine and was recently named one of GQ Magazine’s Best 25 restaurants in America.
