The Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins as the keynote for the 2016 ‘An Evening for Hope’ annual fundraising Gala. The Inn is a non-government, non-profit dedicated to providing “A Place Like Home” and essential support to reduce the burden of illness for children and their families while participating in clinical trials at 15 of the 27 research institutes and centers at the NIH.

The Gala is its largest fundraiser and donates all net proceeds to The Children’s Inn at NIH.

Families travel to The Inn from all over the world, because conventional treatments have failed to have sufficient impact on their children’s illnesses. In many instances, coming to The Children’s in at NIH is a last, best hope for successful treatment or a cure.

WHEN: May 7, 2016: 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

WHERE:           The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner

QUOTES:         “Our goal is to give hope to the families who travel to the NIH from all over the world, because conventional treatments have failed. The An Evening for Hope Gala brings together a community of nearly 800 supporters, across all sectors, who share in the commitment to help seriously-ill children and advance medical research.”

Todd Pantezzi, 2016 An Evening for Hope Gala Chair & Vice President, ICF International

“Since The Children’s Inn at NIH opened 25 years ago, we have grown from helping a handful of families to providing lodging and critical services to more than 1,500 families a year. Through private donations and the leading-edge medical treatments at the NIH, we are able to care for and change the lives of children from around the world. The Gala contributes greatly to our mission of fully and consistently meeting the needs of seriously ill children and their families—free of charge—while they are receiving treatment at the NIH.”

Jennie Lucca, Chief Executive Officer, The Children’s Inn at NIH
