Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. On Saturday, February 8th, DC funk rock reggae band B Side Shuffle will release their second EP, Farmalade, at Tropicalia on U Street.

BACKGROUND: Farmalade was recorded at Northern Virginia’s Castle Hill Farm, with producer Rob Shaffer and engineer Alex Kozen—making for a backstory as unique as the album’s sound itself. From their humble origins in a Capitol Hill kitchen, this band’s electrifying stage performances have brought a District Sound to listeners across the Mid-Atlantic and the world—including 2013 dates with dozens of national acts, a fiercely loyal fan base (known as ‘Shuffleville’), and now, two albums in the span of a year.

Saturday’s release party will also be graced by Watermelon, Big Country Express, the Relics, and Fort Knox Five—the sensational DC-funktronic quintet who has toured across the globe—making for an unforgettable showcase of DC’s fastest-rising musical talent.
