Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. An evening of inspiration, the 9th Annual DC-CAPITAL Stars: The Music of Prince rolls out the red carpet to showcase the outstanding artistic abilities of college-bound students from DC public and public charter schools.This glittering “American Idol”-style talent and scholarship award event attracts over 1,000 guests, award-winning celebrity judges, and prominent civic leaders to support education through the Arts. A celebratory reception with live music and dancing follows the show. Proceeds benefit the DC College Access Program, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping DC public and public charter school high school students prepare for, enroll in and graduate from college.
