Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. You’ll catch her interviewing guests on DC’s NewChannel8′s Let’s Talk Live and showcasing products on BestBuy.com, as well as work appearing on NBC, Fox, Comcast and local print publications.

Evening of Champions

It was a night where you could chat up soccer with new D.C. United midfielder Marcello Gilardo and then turn to discuss financials with Richard Fairbanks of Capital One, the Greater Washington Sports Alliance Evening of Champions. It was also my last big function of affiliation with the Sports Alliance. (More later on my new role at the D.C. Department of Employment Services!)
The big highlight of the evening was the celebration of Art Monk (formerly Redskins #81 and Darrell Green (formerly Redskins #28) and their upcoming induction into the NFL Hall of Fame. Surrounding the excitement of this induction, the two have formed a foundation to further their accomplishments in favor of area youth. It’s called Route 281… and you can find out more about it here.
