Esport Tourney “Red Bull Conquest” To Be First Event in New DC Arena

There’s a new national Esports tournament circuit coming to DC, and this Red Bull event will be the first major event ever held in the new Entertainment & Sports Arena, future home to the Wizards and Mystics.

Red Bull Conquest is a fighting game tournament circuit that takes place in 15 cities (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Nashville, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Seattle) across the United States, with one additional online qualifier, that will culminate with the National Finals in Washington, DC from November 16-18, 2018.

Throughout the tournament, America’s top fighting regions will rise to the top by battling one another across several iconic gaming franchises –  Street Fighter® V: Arcade Edition, TEKKEN 7 and Guilty Gear Xrd REV2.

According to RedBull, the circuit is meant to foster and encourage a sense of local pride that the fighting game community (FGC) was built on, reminiscent of the old arcade days when players came together to build their community. It’s all about RISE. RALLY. CONQUER.

“On behalf of the District of Columbia, [this] partnership with Red Bull represents another step forward in cementing DC as the capital of esports, by hosting the Red Bull Conquest National Finals at the new Entertainment & Sports Arena in the fall. The Arena was built with extreme Wi-Fi and the fastest Ethernet, that will – blow you away – to be able to create memorable experiences that are ideal for esports tournaments and its fans. Tech is shaping the future of entertainment and with the cutting-edge capabilities of the new Arena, esports is just another opportunity for us to showcase DC on a global stage – and attract even more events and visitors to the city, similar to Red Bull’s Conquest Finals,” says Max Brown, Chairman, Board of Directors of Events DC.
