Easter (and Greek Easter Goodness, Too!)

This year Greek Easter and western Easter fall on the same date!  April 20th is coming up fast… Do you have your reservations?  Here’s a sampling of some of the holiday happenings around town.  Have another favorite?  Add your Easter event in the comments!

Zaytinya‘s Geek Easter Feast will officially begin April 20th and will run until May 3rd. To culminate the celebration, on Saturday, May 3rd from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Zaytinya will host Agora, its annual Greek outdoor market event. Agora introduces guests to unique Greek artisanal products, wines, and much more. Live music, Spartan warriors, and complimentary loukamades help make for a very festive afternoon. Admission to Agora is free to the public.

Mike Isabella and his team at Kapnos have put together a Greek Easter To-Go menu to help families inject a little Greek flavor into their home feasts. Spreads, spit roasted meats and Greek Easter favorites like tsoureki bread, roasted lemon potatoes, fava santorini and horta will be available. Orders must be placed by Wednesday, April 16, and can be  picked up at Kapnos on Easter day between 10:00am and 12:00pm.

Kapnos is also offering a three course Easter Brunch on Easter Sunday.  The fixed price meal is $39 per person, and reservations must be made by phone at 202-234-5000

Poste Moderne Brasserie updates its famed Poste Roasts for the coming Easter holiday, hosting an all day brunch buffet. Chef Dennis Marron has prepared a menu to include: Green Bean Almondine, Pomme Puree, Butter Lettuce SaladHot Cross Buns, Glazed Ham, Roasted Lamb Shoulder Spit Roasted Pork Loin and more. And, of course, it isn’t Easter without colored hard boiled eggs and assorted Easter candy! Poste’s Easter Poste Roast Buffet will be $40.

Hill Country will celebrate the holiday with all-day family-friendly specials, and a real live Easter Bunny! The Hill Country Easter Bunny will be on-hand throughout the day, and there will also be an easter egg hunt, open to all. There will be eggs and treats—for grown-ups and kids alike— hidden around the restaurant, full of fun & FREE surprises. Hill Country will feature its aptly-named Feed Yer Family special all day: 1/4 lb. Lean Brisket, 1 Pork Spare Rib, 1 HC Hot Link, 1/4 Chicken, 2 Good Eatin’ Sides, and choice of dessert (PB&J Cupcake, Banana Pudding, or Chocolate Chunk Cookie), all for $23 per person.

Easter classics like leg of lamb and maple ham are part of Art and Soul‘s heroic Easter brunch buffet for $55 per person, $25 ages 12 and under.

Graffiato offers a $35, fixed price three course brunch served between 11:30am- 4pm featuring its popular favorites like zeppole, roasted cauliflower and wood oven baked eggs.

four course brunch menu will be offered at Table from 11am-2pm for $55/person with bottomless mimosas for $13. Highlights include Asparagus Charlotte with Maryland blue crab, Spring Lamb Roulade and a chocolate egg.

Or try something totally different and take an Easter Sunday Dining Cruise for brunch, lunch or dinner!  Spirit Cruises is featuring festive holiday-themed cruises fun for the whole family complete with an appearance from the Easter Bunny, goody bags, and coloring book with crayons for the kids. On Sunday, April 20th, the Spirit of Washington is offering both an Easter Sunday Lunch Cruise (Board: 11:30am, Cruise: Noon to 2:00pm, Price from $54.90), and a Dinner Cruise (Board: 4:30pm, Cruise: 5:00pm to 7:30pm, Price from $79.90) The cruise includes a buffet featuring sweet and savory bites, DJ entertainment, dancing, and stunning 360 views of Washington DC from the water!

Odyssey Cruises is also offering both an Easter Sunday Early Brunch Cruise (Board 9:15am, Cruise 10:00am-Noon, Price from $65.90), and an Easter Sunday Afternoon Brunch Cruise (Board: 1:15pm, Cruise: 2:00pm to 4:00pm, Price from $69.90). To celebrate the holiday, guests will have the opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny, partake in the bunny hop on the dance floor, and coloring books and crayons will be available the younger cruise-goers on board.
