Do It in the District — City Winery Bottles Up Your Winery Weekend

Warmer weather means DC is starting to plan winery weekends.  But what if we told you that you could have your wine and eat great, too — right IN the city?!

Not only did City Winery in Ivy City just announce the bottling of its three inaugural vintages, but it recently highlighted its new flavors for the season as well.  So now the closest winery to DC is… in DC, and it has a menu and entertainment that will keep you coming back for more.

Executive Chef Brandon Ingenito perfectly paired his Spring tastes to match the urban winery’s first District-made vintages. Marinated Olives & Ricotta Toast boast flavors of orange, garlic, and rosemary that match with the fresh citrus notes in the 202 Sauvignon Blanc ($18). Don’t dare pass up on his Crispy Shrimp seated on a bed of roasted sweet corn salad & tarragon remoulade with anything (it’s our favorite). And either the Grilled Ahi Tuna with broccoli rabe, cherry tomatoes, Kalamata olives, and caper berries or the Smoked Pork Belly with mint-pea puree, cabbage slaw, and pork rinds would accompany a chilled glass of Rosé of Syrah ($18) with its alluring cherry aroma.

Of course no meal at City Winery could be complete without a hot band to listen to and something sweet for dessert. Guests will love sipping on the new Crummel Seyval ($18) while indulging in chef’s Olive Oil “Shortcake” with strawberry-rhubarb compote.

Take our tasting notes or pair as you prefer.  But enjoy these bottled on site “adult beverages” and seasonal bites that are — quite literally — at your convenience.

We love a winery weekend, but it’s equally awesome that now we can do it in the District!
