Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. Derek Lam Makes Appearance at DC Alzheimer’s Benefit

Fashion designer Derek Lam made a personal appearance at the Ritz in DC Tuesday to showcase his Fall 2011 runway collection at a benefit for Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation. Called the Great Ladies Luncheon, the event was put on with Saks in memory of Estelle Gelman, a DC philanthropist who passed in October 2009, and was an inaugural fashion luncheon for the organization, which committed to donate 100% of the proceeds to fund innovative drugs for Alzheimer’s patients.
