Last week’s celebration of DCity Smokehouse’s first anniversary involved a bonanza of BBQ.
Closing its doors to the public to offer a special influencer tasting party, the eatery — which was recently named the “finest BBQ in DC” — treated guests high on the hog, offering popular dishes like the slow smoked and dry rubbed wings and tips, brisket, crispy brussels sprouts, hush puppies and more.
Co-owner Melvin Hines, Scott Jacobs and Pitmaster Rob gave the chowhounds a look behind the scenes, offering a tour of the kitchen… and proof that everything is made in-house daily. Other takeaways from the team’s tour included expanded hours (Sundays, Noon-6pm, Tuesday through Saturday, Noon-9pm) and new nosh:
- the Den Den Sandwich with crispy Fried boneless chicken tossed in our Hot Wing Sauce topped with Crispy Fried Onions, lettuce, tomato, and cilantro ranch on a hoagie roll ($9.25)
- the Percy Jones Sandwich with Smoked Chicken Salad dressed with Creole Honey Mustard Sauce, grilled onions, lettuce, and tomato served on a ciabatta roll ($8.75)
- Smokehouse combos: for those looking to feed a crowd, they can now pick-up various combos like Smokehouse Picnic Basket ($70) with two pounds of pork ribs and tips, 15 pit smoked wings or a whole chicken, one pound of any meat by the slice, and five small sides. (feeds 5)
Those in attendance were also the first to find out the inside scoop on a new location coming soon.
