Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. DC Toasts, Sends Off Its Mrs. America Contestant

It was a “Toast to the Queen” Thursday night as DC sent their Mrs. off to compete in the National Mrs. America Pageant to be held next week in Tucson, Arizona.

The event, held at Adams Morgan’s Southern Hospitality honored Mrs. DC America 2012 Arika Burton and her husband, Brad, while raising funds for Cure by Design and the American Cancer Society.

Among those in attendance were Monumental Sports & Entertainments’ Paul Pitcher, Mrs. America 2002 Laurett Arnez Ellsworth, Mrs. Maryland America 2012 Tes Scanlon, Miss International 2011 Ciji Dodds, Snobswaps’ Elise Whang, Alexandria Cake Pops’ Tamara Wilson, event organizers Gina Boyd and Raquel Riley Thomas, and 2013 Mrs. DC contestants Meagan Barnes and Sophia Nawab.
