The 3rd annual “Dainty Doesn’t Do It” panel discussion commemorated an early International Women’s Day at The Wharf’s 12 Stories this week.

More than 150 guests enjoyed an illuminating conversation with women in leadership roles across the hospitality and lifestyle spaces while enjoying food and drinks courtesy of the venue.

Amanda McClements (owner of Salt & Sundry/Little Leaf/The Sun Room) moderated the discussion with Rose Previte (owner, Maydan/Compass Rose), Kimberly Wilson (special projects, Essence magazine) Ginger Flesher-Sonnier (founder/owner, The Ginger Companies), Jessica Dallesasse (general manager, 12 Stories), and Monica Alford (editor-in-chief, District Fray Magazine) that touched on the quality of the local talent pool, the fight for pay parity, combating harassment, navigating entrepreneurship and other relevant issues impacting women in the workforce, no matter their industry.

One of the major themes to come out of the discussion was “Protect your energy.” (Kimberly Wilson)

After the event — which even featured surprise giveaways and an interactive dream closet from Rent the Runway — guests and panelists mixed to music by DJ Vania.
