Crowns, Congrats and a Little Crooning When Miss America Comes to Town

Neil Alpert, Board President for the Miss District of Columbia Scholarship Organization, thanked dedicated sponsors, benefactors, alumni and all of the others whose efforts have helped make the program a success each year by inviting them all to a special reception last Saturday with a special guest… Miss America!

Ostensibly a gathering to introduce Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri — local author J.D. Ludwig and his son Christian beamed about her “energy” — the party also served as a birthday bash for current Miss District of Columbia (2013) Bindhu Pamarthi, who got her favorite ice cream flavor and a Happy Birthday serenade from Jen Corey (2009).
