Congressmen, Staff, Journos Play ‘Capture the Flag’

Diet Coke kicked it old school Monday afternoon, hosting a “Capture the Flag” tournament to raise awareness and funds for heart health programs in Washington, D.C.

“We all know a woman who may be at risk for cardiovascular disease—a mom, a sister, a friend—that’s why I’m joining Diet Coke in its continuing commitment to The Heart Truth® to raise awareness about the importance of heart health,” said Alana Beard of the Washington Mystics, joining teams made up of Congressional members, staff and local media to compete in the tournament and win $20,000 in donations to local heart health organizations.

“The game was a fun way to get hearts pumping while we helped raise funds for local heart health programs.”

In addition to Beard, Washington Redskins player Chris Cooley (above left) played a spirited game on the National Journal team, which helped the Association of Black Cardiologists walk away with $2,500 for their heart healthy efforts.

But it was the CQ Roll Call team that was the tournament’s big winner, representing The Links Incorporated on the court and winning them a $10,000 check.
