Commedia dell Media

On the annual day of jokes and jokesters, press personalities performed stand-up routines at the annual Commedia dell Media at the National Press Club.  Cracking jokes for a cause, these comedic routines served to benefit Reporters without Borders – and lighten the mood of the hundreds of press in attendance.

Hosted by favorite funnyman cartoonist Nick Galifiankis – “starts with a Gal and ends with a *kiss* –  who joked he “claims to be a journalist in much the same way Olive Garden claims to be an Italian restaurant,” the comedic artist told stories from fresh off his latest book tour before introducing the eleven competing stand-up acts and special guest Miles O’Brien.

In the end, it was Washington City Paper design director Brooke Hatfield who won over the crowd with some riotous raunchiness, “lady bits,” and  lots of other laughter.
