Coming to DC: 50 Shades… The Musical

While the world awaits — with hitched breath, no doubt — the big screen adaptation of E.L. James’ erotic novel, DC is ready to get some 50 Shades stage action.  And no lie… it’S a(nd) Musical.50shades4

50 SHADES! THE MUSICAL – A PARODY has sold out audiences in Chicago and New York, and received a four star review at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.  Now, it debuts in DC at The Warner Theatre (January 16 – 18) for four — 18 and over — performances only.  (To be sure, the release confirms that it “does not cross boundaries that would make general 50shades2audience squirm.”)

Open scene: A ladies book club deciding to read Fifty Shades of Grey.  A variety of dance numbers, 11 original songs (“They Get Nasty”, “I Don’t Make Love”, and “There’s a Hole Inside of Me…”), and some wild interpretation later, audiences are rolling on the floor (like Anastasia’s first attempt at ben wa balls) and likely having the best time with the parody of this unlikely bestseller.
