Circus Brings DRAGONS, Fiery Excitement to Verizon Center

It may be the Year of the Snake (according to the Chinese calendar), but that doesn’t mean the mythic Dragon has left the stage. Far from it, actually, as Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey bring the dsc02823circus to DC in its fiery celebration of DRAGONS.

Paying tribute to the spirit, strength, wisdom, and courage of the dragon, the circus acts – with the usual trapeze acrobats and aerialists, trained lions and tigers… as well as some nonconventional martial arts and motorcycle tricks – bring the young and young at heart to the edge of their seats.dsc02844

From Shaolin Warriors executing intense and fearless Kung Fu martial arts dating back to the 5th Century, to equestrian acrobat Cossack Riders performing intricate maneuvers on horseback, to the Torres Family maneuvering eight (!!) family members on motorcycles in the Globe of Steel, performers pay tribute to the spirit and strength of the DRAGON. It’s an experience of fiery excitement.

dsc02832In addition to the show, all ticket holders are invited to an All Access Pre-show Party (hosted one hour before show time) which offers a meet and greet and photo opportunities with performers, the chance to try on costumes, learn circus skills and even potentially win a masterpiece painting by one of the Ringling Bros. artistic Asian elephants.

Performances of “the greatest show on Earth” at the Verizon Center run only until Sunday, March 25th.  Tickets start at $15.
