Last weekend, DC welcomed friends from around the nation… and Churchkey welcomed some of its most acclaimed and recognized craft brewers.
Representatives from Allagash Brewing Company, Fullsteam, Schlafly Beer, Star Hill,
Flying Dog, Heavy Seas, DC Brau, and 3 Stars Brewing Company gathered together with a tight-knit Inauguration crowd for the Inauguration Brewers Ball to share some favorite recipes, brewing stories, delicious food, and all around good conversation — all fitting activities considering the White House’s propensity for home brewing.
Local and visiting beer enthusiasts attending the ball at ChurchKey mixed and mingled 
with the brewers themselves, enjoying the wares of the evening’s ten featured breweries… and allowing the pours to get a bit political.
Toasts gave each brewer a bit of time to pontificate about the current state of micro brewing, the ever growing DC beer culture, politics, and the future of local breweries and the 
people who love the fruits of their labor.
Jeff Wells, of Schlafly Beer, took advantage of his time at the helm to highlight the latest piece of small business legislation being sent to Congress on the behalf of microbreweries everywhere: a piece of legislation that will both expand the hiring capabilities of small breweries and, in turn, produce more delicious beer for the general public.
