Christina Aguilera Collects Award in DC for Different Type of Hunger Games

Yes, that was Xtina – Christina Aguilera – at the State Department Wednesday. Besties for the day with the Secretary of State?  Not quite. Though they do share a hunger for success… and a resolution not to let others go (literally) hungry.

Joining a list of past honorees, to include Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton as well Bill Gates and Howard Buffett, Senators George McGovern and Robert Dole among others, Aguilera and David Novak (Chairman and CEO of Yum! Brands) were awarded the George McGovern Leadership Award at the 11th annual ceremony, which highlighted their contributions in the global fight against hunger.

Aguilera, a United Nations World Food Program Ambassador Against Hunger, has traveled to Haiti and Guatemala helping to provide meals for hungry children.

“In my travels with the World Food Programme, I’ve seen firsthand how that meal changes the life of a child,” she said.  “After having my own child, I just had to be a part of it and do something about it and help change that situation.”
