Last week, one of the world’s top chefs, Chef Daniel Boulud, was in DC to fete his first DC outpost — a mix of French brasserie and American burger joint called DBGB Kitchen & Bar — located in downtown’s bustling new CityCenter.
While the restaurant shares the same name as its counterpart in New York — and the menus are a close match — Boulud has created a few temptations just for Washington, and added some local flavor to others, which he debuted with family (yes, his wife and 6 month old son were there!), friends and fans last Friday night.
Some chefs came to pay homage — like Carla Hall, Jose Andres, and Patrick O’Connell — others were represented by signed plates lining the walls, as a packed house of attendees gorged on a raw bar, exclaimed over an ice sculpture of the Washington monument, and delighted as Boulud torched a giant Baked Alaska.
