Joe Theismann’s Restaurant, launched by former Redskins quarterback star Joe Theismann, has been a fixture in Old Town for over three decades. But even a legend could use a little lift after 30 years.

Showcasing its latest renovation, with a new look and new menu items, Alexandria Restaurant Partners (who bought equity interest in the restaurant from Theismann in 2018) held a ‘Cheers to the Next 30 Years’ bash to celebrate the 100th season of the NFL and Joe Theismann’s 70th birthday last Wednesday (9/18/19). This was also a prime opportunity to preview the restaurant’s new, contemporary decor with festivities and throwback flair. The guest list included long time Theismann’s regulars, local VIPs, close friends and family of the football superstar… and Alumni Redskins Cheerleaders who cheered when he played!

Theismann’s has always been a sports mainstay, but its bar fare has gotten a boost (think custom-aged prime steaks). The interior also received a football-themed refresh that includes soft brown leather banquettes, lounge seating areas, turf green walls, a new island bar, and a collection of Theismann memorabilia.

Said Theismann, “These new changes represent the evolution of Theismann’s and I am so pleased in how the space turned out.”
