Charity In Chocolate, a one-of-kind chocolate fashion show event that benefits the literacy work of the Heart of America Foundation, held a private preview at Boxwood’s Chevy Chase Tasting Room Monday night. A select group not only noshed the night away, but were privy to some of the participating Chefs sweetest secrets for creating culinary masterpieces to walk the runway!
Attendees enjoyed Boxwood wines, savory bites by Del Campo and Kushi, and sweet treats from CoCo Sala, as well as a behind the scenes experience with Pastry Chef Carlo Figarella as he performed a demonstration of how he creates chocolate couture and jewelry fashioned entirely out of sugar.
Heart of America’s co-Founder Angie Halamandaris was also on hand to detail the work of the non-profit and share that all proceeds from the September 6th event will aide the Foundation’s Books From The Heart program, which provides thousands of books to local DC area children living in poverty, who have few or no books of their own.
