Kate Michael

Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. You’ll catch her interviewing guests on DC’s NewChannel8′s Let’s Talk Live and showcasing products on BestBuy.com, as well as work appearing on NBC, Fox, Comcast and local print publications.

Chance for Life

Equally successful as in years past, this year’s Chance for Life events dealt a ‘full house’ to the City Tavern Club in Georgetown. To raise money for pediatic spinal chord cancer research, under the inspiration of 7 1/2 year old Kennedy Snyder, attendees played in poker tournaments, participated in wine tastings, and partied (did you really think this wouldn’t be a part of the event??) for the cause.

A female finally won the poker tournament, now in its third year, and will take a gamble with her winnings – a $10,000 World Series of Poker Tour ticket. Friend and apparent fellow Matrix fan, Michael Saylor (it’s a joke – he was wearing a long leather jacket and shades) was the only acquaintance of mine skilled enough to make it to the final table.
