It’s called The Mural Project, and earlier this month, it brought four talented artists from across the globe together in DC to share a beer… and be bold.
Heineken sponsored this handful of bi-cultural artists to create original large-scale murals (inspired by Heineken’s “Open Your World” message) that will be on view in DC indefinitely.
The only DC-based artist, Aniekan (mural at left), for example, felt inspired by the city’s own Marvin Gaye and how he opened his world through music and travel.
Artists like these, including EVER and Rubin who have murals all over the globe, don’t usually collaborate on city-wide artistic missions as a collective, but DC’s Mural Project was a special initiative – one of three cities selected for the project by Heineken as a testament to the city’s growing street art scene.
Each mural also has a QR code, which pedestrians can scan to learn more about the artists and artwork, making the effort a first-of-its-kind walking gallery.
