In a release distributed today, it was announced that Steven Alan, a casual fashion boutique for both men and women, will open a small store (670 sq ft) — the brand’s first DC location — in Cady’s Alley (planned for September). The space, directly across from popular Austrian Cafe Leopold, formerly housed a long term pop-up of the home furnishings and fashion retailer Muléh.
Steven Alan, a New York based heritage-inspired line of casual wear staples, opened its first retail store in 1994, adding Alan’s own line of ready-to-wear in 1999 (including his his now-signature “Reverse Seam” button-down, chinos, and cotton dresses in colorful plaids, stripes and chambray). In 2008, the brand went bi-coastal, and Alan also began to design collections for Urban Outfitters, Uniqlo, Keds and Dockers.
The Steven Alan lease agreement complements a recent swell of Georgetown Renaissance fashion and lifestyle activity that includes Cady’s Alley’s current retail favorites Bonobos, Babette and Relish.
