Local bars and restaurants including Room 11, La Tomate, and El Tamarindo, to name a few, brought the crème de la crème of their menus to StreetWise Partners’ Taste of Success Thursday night in celebration of the organization’s third-year anniversary in DC.

The StreetWise program, supported by companies like Deloitte and the World Bank Group, links low-income individuals with corporate mentors to develop job and networking skills through twelve weekly tutorials.

Held at Gallup Organization’s stunning F-Street offices, the gala opened with two hours of innovative cocktails

(ask for a cinnamon-apple Caipirinha next time you’re at Policy Bar) and bite-sized treats (Dino’s pesto-deviled eggs might change your life); followed by a brief awards presentation honoring Kaiser Associates as well as active StreetWise members for their ongoing support of the program  In a short but grand finale, StreetWise alumna and success story Karen Morrison took the microphone to share her experiences transitioning from mentee to mentor in just three short months.

Take-aways from the event?
At least a dozen new restaurants to try, and Ms. Morrison’s final words of career advice: “It’s a matter of if, not when…. And always have a business card.”
