Boozing for the Babies: March of Dimes Signature Chef’s Auction

DC’s premier chefs, wineries, and mixologists brought their finest culinary creations, delectable wines, and creative cocktails during this year’s March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction. Entering its 16th year, the event features over 30 local businesses, including a silent auction with offerings ranging from dining and entertainment to travel and leisure.

Notable guests included Stephen Bowen, defensive end with the Washington Redskins, and his wife Tiffany Bowen, who served as the event’s Ambassador Family, committing to raise $25,000 in support of this vital cause.

Justin Bittner, executive chef of 14th Street’s Bar Pilar, and Jo-Jo Valenzula, beverage manager at Occidental attended as Honorary event Chairs.

The mission of the March of Dimes Foundation (originally founded to combat polio) is to help expectant mothers reach full-term pregnancies and research the problems that threaten the health of babies — so babies and booze might seem an unlikely duo. However, this high-profile affair attracts hundreds of Washington, DC’s elite philanthropists and corporations, and has raised over $1 million toward improving the health of our nation’s babies since 1996.
