Awards from the Silver Screen… in Silver Spring

Silver Spring was out for the Oscars Sunday night when The National Center for Children and Families (NCCF) and Silver Spring Town Center, Inc. (SSTCi) brought Hollywood to the neighborhood.  People posed for photos snapped by “Paparazzi,” sipped cocktails and danced, enjoying entertainment from two-time Super Bowl Champion Linebacker of the Washington Redskins Ravin Caldwell and WJLA / ABC7 News anchor Pamela Brown.
A 50 foot red carpet flowed through the Silver Spring Civic Center atrium, but the crowd was less glam gowned and more film festive, dressing in themes tied to this years’ nominees — like 20’s flappers from The Artist and Hawaiian shirts and leis in celebration of The Descendants.
Attendees left with “swag bags” filled with Divine Chocolate, tickets from the Fillmore, VIP passes for the Silver Spring ice skating rink, and a sense of do-goodery.  All proceeds served to benefit the NCCF and SSTCi.
